Could have been a lot of fun....
Jan. 26th, 2007 07:05 pmDanielle called me about a trip to San Diego. She was going to pick me up LATE at night (she gets off work from Boreal around 9:30 or 10:00), and Karena (Keith too, I think she said), and we all would have gone to San Diego and possibly to the aquarium there. Danielle's birthday is on Sunday, so this is how she wanted to celebrate.
I would love to be able to go, but driving to San Diego from my house takes the same amount of time needed to go to my aunt and uncle's place in Beavercreek, Oregon: eleven to twelve hours. Plus, it's very late at night. She didn't mention if we'd be staying anywhere. It's a bummer, but such a trip could also be dangerous. Dad took his first road trip with a friend when they were in their twenties (they drove to Mexico and were almost jailed - not that we'd be jailed in San Diego, but....). Dad was against it, but told me Mom would be more strongly against it, and she was.
Could have been a lot of fun, could be dangerous. A group of teenagers driving twelve hours to San Diego last minute isn't the best of plans.
I called Danielle back not long ago and told her that it was a no go, but that I'd also call her again on Sunday to wish her happy birthday. I really want to be able to hang out with her, Karena, and Keith before she moves to Hawaii.
Leave your old school, miss your friends. Make new friends, miss the friends you left behind more....
Dad said he'd take me to see Pan's Labyrinth tomorrow or maybe on Sunday. It's not as big of a deal as it once was (though I still want to see it like crazy), but... I really hope I can still get together with Danielle and the gang sometime soon.
