Howdy from PDX!

Forgot to set my alarm this morning; woke to Uncle Larry knocking on my door. Time was 6:32. We were ready to leave by 7:00. Driving was very slow, as Uncle Larry had snow chains on the rear tires of the Astro. Along Beavercreek, this asshole tried to pass us and other drivers, drove too quickly, spun out, and got stuck in a ditch. He wasn't hurt and had his cell phone, so I just had to laugh at his impatience. Dumbass, dumbass, dumbass.
The Oregon City Bypass was a bit unnerving because deep ruts had been carved into the snow. Get stuck in one of these ruts, and you start spinning out. Happened to Uncle Larry once, but he got the Astro situated again. A truck had spun out ahead of us and a tow was there to get it out. The tow guy then parked in the middle of the rightmost lane doing some paperwork. Uncle Larry noted that it was a Clackamas Tow truck and related how one of these guys had tried to jump-start Aunt Pam's car once and declared it as having "major mechanical problems." Aunt Pam called Uncle Larry, Uncle Larry drove to where she was, and he jump-started the car without a problem. Uncle Larry instructed AAA to never send them a tow guy from Clackamas Tow again!
205 was slow (read again: chains), but traffic moved along well. Uncle Larry diverted off 205 onto Exit 19 and took the snowy back roads so the Astro's chains wouldn't get damaged.
Made it to the airport, hugged Uncle Larry goodbye, and proceeded to wait in line outside. The lines inside were backed up to the food court, so I dealt with the cold and the line moved slowly, but steadily.
Called Mom and Dad right before I went through security to let them know where I was. Security was a breeze.
Now I'm sitting in Gate C-14, waiting for my 12:00 flight. Everything looks good so far. I look forward to seeing Mom, Dad, and Cammy in California in a few hours. Yesterday, I finally began to feel depressed about not being home already. I read Darren Shan's Cirque du Freak on Friday, and finished Koontz's Odd Hours yesterday after beginning it on Sunday.
Sunday, the power was out from around 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM or 12:00 midnight. Tree branches were falling off by the dozens because we'd had snow followed by freezing rain. I got some really neat photos of the yard and will upload them when I can.
My right foot has fallen asleep, so I'm going to walk around. I hope I can see some of my friends when we return from Grandma and Grandpa's house in Diamond Bar. :)
