Love Thy Reptiles!
Oct. 9th, 2006 02:48 amToday was awesome! I finished watching Mad Love for the second time at 2:00 this morning, got up at around 10:30, took care of the pets, walked down to the creek with Mom, then began cleaning my room up. Alex called me and we talked for a little over an hour; she told me Brenna had told her that I was a stay-at-home bum (which I currently am).
I told Alex about Draco, and she told me about a snake she was going to be getting from a lady who'd had the beastie for sixteen years. Alex met this woman at The Pet Mine (where I get Draco's crickets and mealworms) while she was looking for a pet rat. Alex asked the woman if she was getting a rat for a pet as well, and the lady said No, I have to feed my snake.
Alex asked her Oh, I've always wanted a snake, and the lady asked her, Do you want mine? - seriously, you want mine? And voila! Alex got a snake! She was telling me on the phone that she'd called this woman and had never received a reply, so when she got off the phone with me, she called the snake lady again.
Later in the day - between 4:00 and 5:00, I think - Alex called again.
"You're at 11714, right, Jill?"
"Yup!"
"Go out to your driveway!"
I walked outside to the front steps: Alex and her mom, Alicia, were at the mouth of our driveway. As it turns out, Alex's snake belonged to one of my neighbors! I ran to the deck to get Draco from his outdoor cage as Dad walked outside to greet Alex and Alicia. Alicia works at the store in Alta Sierra and Dad talks to her when he sees her there. Alex and her mom LOVED Draco, and Alex's snake - a five-foot-long ball python - is absolutely gorgeous. His name is Spot (they might change his name) and he has some scars along his back from where rats attacked him.
Dad invited them both in, saying we don't have company often, and they stayed for about an hour. We discussed pets, walked down to the creek, came back up and played with Lupin, Sprig, and CJ, and had a really wonderful visit. It made my day!
I still feel all wiggly about it. It's not everyday your friend calls you to let you know he or she is in your driveway!
Mom and Dad went to see The Guardian today while Cammy and I stayed home. Mom and Dad bought more ice cream and frozen fruit, so I made another milkshake. If I don't grow rotund in the next few years, I'll be lucky. :D I'm eating a box of Runts, too, so tomorrow will definitely be a TreadClimber day. *explodes candies all over her room*
What makes this all the more better is that I'm listening to Dark Wave. Yay!
Alex and I also talked about me having a movie party over October break. IT MUST HAPPEN! WHO WANTS TO COME, DAMN IT?! WHO WANTS TO COOOOME?? 0____o I'd invite my dA friends too, if I could. I'm so cheerful right now it's ridiculous.
Awww: The Smiths' "Heaven Nows I'm Miserable Now". I'm not!
SO! Whomever isn't busy over October break, let me know and we'll see if I can pull off a movie party. I really want to!
Random: I had NO IDEA previous to early this morning that Vincent Price was American. XD
One more thing: Joe is sending us the baby female bearded dragon (one of Draco's children, as it turns out (NO BABIES! INCEST IS SCARY!)) very soon. Squee!
