Green Tea Keeps You Focused!
Jul. 31st, 2007 10:03 pmYesterday, I had to go to AIPD early, even though Mondays mean my afternoon Language of Animation & Film class. Jessi and Maddie were at the beach house, so I drank a cup of green tea sans sweetener before leaving with Uncle Larry. Stayed in the Student Commons from 8:00 to 9:00, then headed over to Powell's, where I sketched and began reading The Wild Road - which, so far, is very good. Left Powell's around 11:45.
In LA&F (12:45 - 4:30), we watched some of the early Disney Silly Symphonies cartoons ("Wynken, Blynken, and Nod"; "Flowers and Trees"; and "The Skeleton Dance" - fun stuff!). I learned that Ms. Breaux is a fan of The X-Files. XD
GARY NUMAN PLAYLIST FTW.
Got last Monday's quizzes back: I got 14.5 out of 15 total points; Ms. Breaux wrote Excellent Answers on my quiz. Win!
Today, in Design Inquiry, we watched the film Maya Lin - A Strong, Clear Vision. Maya Lin designed the Vietnam Memorial, and there was a lot of controversy over her being the designer: she'd been a twenty-something college senior, female, Asian, not a Vietnam vet. People suck. REALLY interesting film, and quite uplifting.
Got our Essay #1 drafts back. Ms. Broderick wrote Excellent Answers Overall and gave suggestions for improvement. Win number two!
Tomorrow I have Digital Principles, and for my hybrid creature photomanipulation (still VERY much a draft), I created... a humminguar. It's a magnificent hummingbird (that's the hummer's name, by the way - Eugenes fulgens) / jaguar cross with a white tiger's eye. Hee!
Draco has a very full tummy. He needs to be pooped soon!
When I talked with Mom and Dad last night, they told me that Lupin had another seizure-like episode.... She vomited, drooled profusely, bumped her head on the rails of the deck and then cowered in one of the corners. God, I hope she's not ingesting poison from someplace. I miss her as much I miss my human family. Sarah and Honey are cute, but boisterous, especially at night when they bark at rabbits and such. Honey has a very shrill, clippy bark, too. I went to bed at 10:00 last night, woke up on my own around 2:50 this morning, then they began barking. EMO. (YAY GREEN TEA!)
Oh, and I've made a new friend. His name is Josh and he's a second year Media Arts & Animation student. Before you ask "OMG BOYFRIEND, YES?!", he maaaay be gay. Not certain. We walked to the Utrecht store today and their prices are FANTASTICALLY LOW. I resisted buying markers and things. Then, at Powell's, I began writing a Brainsick excerpt: it's a conversation between Finch and Rant.
Whee! I've got a LOT of art to do before Thursday and Friday.... Friday's (Principles of Visual Communication) project is a PAIN, but I'm going to restart it anyway.
And.... Numan's "In A Dark Place" kicks. ASS.
