Saturday: Dad and Cammy went to a soccer game; Mum and I had the house to ourselves. After feeding Draco and taking Lupin down to the creek, we watched The Phantom of the Opera (my fourth time, Mum's first). God, every single time I finish that movie, I want to WATCH IT AGAIN. Anyway, I was a freaking SLUG on Saturday. Watched the film, watched ALL the special freatures - yeah, over four hours on my ass. Ugh. Mum enjoyed it, though. She prefers Michael Crawford's voice over Gerard Butler's, but she told me she had "Music of the Night" stuck in her head at work. Hurrah!

I'd like to see the version with Michael Crawford if it's recorded.... Almost every Phantom performance has been based off of Crawford's Phantom. But I still loffs Gerry.

Gerard Butler, whose voice was untrained previous to the film, was criticized for not having the full vocal range needed to play the title character, though this was often by fans (also called "Phans") enraged that Michael Crawford was not cast. (This despite the fact that Crawford was born in 1942, and was 62 years old at the time of this film's release.) However, Andrew Lloyd Webber said in many interviews that he was chosen for the emotional rocky quality of his voice to juxtapose the style of singing that was for the character of Raoul.

EMOTIONAL ROCKY QUALITY = HOT. Oh, and for Phantom geeks out there: have you seen the Easter Egg on disc 2? It's a cast and crew SINGALONG. HOLY SHIT. It's funny. JOEL SCHUMACHER SEDUCES GERARD BUTLER WTF. I found the Easter Egg m'self. I feel special.

I got a headache from sitting around so much, so I went to bed early - around 10:00. I have learned that when I go to bed with even a slight headache, I dream some EFFED UP stuff. Early Sunday morning, I dreamt that I was spending the night at Erin's house; Alex, Kat, and Brenna were there, too. I think even Dannie was there, and Erin's house was almost a cross with Dannie's. In the bathroom, a sign was posted saying something about a "demon potato" and not to bother Erin if any of us saw it.

SO. Near the end of the dream, I was inside a closet when I heard it: THE DEMON POTATO. It sounded like a wolf-pig cross and scared the shit out of me. I never actually saw the demon potato, but I woke up with shivers all over my body and I could not move for a few seconds. SLEEP PARALYSIS!!! I've had several dreams in which this happens... but never with a goddamn demon potato.

Yeeeah. Got up, got Draco out of his terrarium, watched space programs with Mum and Dad, got Mum laughing her ass off about my demon potato. Fun stuff. Oddly, Mum asked me if, during the sleep paralysis, it felt like "ice was being shoved down [my] back"; "then it's a real demon", she said. I was all "WHOOOA, Mom. It was just a dream." Heh. INCUBUS POTATO? Fucking Aaaaa.

Then I watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939, Charles Laughton as Quasimodo) for the second time late at night. SUCH a good version, though the Disney is still my favorite, mweee. Very close to Hugo's novel, as it actually includes Hugo's discussion about the printing press and the incident triangle with Esmerelda, Frollo, and Pheobus.

I'm going to record Jean Cocteau's 1946 Beauty and the Beast tomorrow in my room with the mini TV-VCR combo that lives in the trailer. Four-star, lavishly produced fantasy. I love seeing different versions of popular stories. Will watch-record House in the living room. Nyeeeeh. My life seems to revolve around television now. NOOOOO!

The Phantom of the Opera, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Beauty and the Beast.... MY GOD, THEY'RE ALL FRENCH! Yaaaay!

ONE MORE THING. In the recent Flight of the Pheonix (which Dad was watching today), there's a scene with Massive Attack's "Angel". AWESOME. And Hugh Laurie's in it. =P OH HELL I even watched some end bits of Stuart Little earlier tonight because Laurie's in that, too. *fantard*

WHY ARE THE BRITISH SO AMAZING WITH AMERICAN ACCENTS?!
